Liverpool reserves beat Burnley reserves 1-0 thanks to a Dani Pacheco free kick right at the end of the game. Liverpool played the better attacking football, particularly in the last 30 minutes but Burnley will be bitterly disappointed that their hardwork in midfield and defence wasn’t enough. The bizarre sight of Owen Coyle playing the first hour gave a comedy edge to an otherwise tight game.

Liverpool reserves beat Bolton Wanderers reserve team more comfortably than their senior counterparts with a 3-1 win at Prenton Park tonight. Whilst all the goals had an element on luck, it was the least the reds deserved and Bolton produced very little.
It was frustrating that Liverpool weren’t really able to keep the ball or move Bolton around. They did create chances but they were isolated moves rather than sustained pressure. Perhaps Liverpool lacked a bit of width with Bruna and Amoo regularly coming off their flanks to get involved. As with last week, the final pass was often lacking. But Pacheco was at the heart of everything good. Perhaps the young reds aren’t certain in each other’s movements or lack the confidence to just go for it.

Blackburn reserves beat Liverpool reserves 3-2 tonight but were astonishingly fortunate to win. Liverpool were the better team throughout but a combination of indecision and poor movement in the final third meant they couldn’t make their superiority count.
