It's nice to see somebody who has bothered to use statistics to undermine the myth that these big televised events cause a spike in giving and/or awareness. I recently wrote an article on similar lines, although it was more of a jokey rant, but I think you've done a much better job of expressing what a lot of people feel about events like Comic Relief, Live 8 etc. I believe we should raise awareness of inequality, but am doubtful that events like these actually work.
